River Rouge Bridge Pothole Closes Two Lanes on I-75

MDOT crews have shut down two lanes of traffic on I-75 at Springwells in order to fill a pothole.

A large pothole on the River Rouge Bridge has closed down a couple of lanes on I-75 northbound at Springwells. Michigan Department of Transportation crews are filling the hole with emergency concrete in order to reopen the area as soon as possible. MDOT spokesperson Diane Cross says potholes are not a rare sight on the River Rouge Bridge.

“At least once or twice a month it seems that there will be a large pothole or something that will affect a lane of traffic. We are going to be rehabilitating this bridge in 2017, where we will be rebuilding the top surface of this bridge.”

Cross suggests taking the Southfield Freeway to I-94 East to avoid congested traffic caused by the pothole. She says all lanes will reopen tomorrow morning.
