Expert Says Detroit Can Do More to Curb Gun Violence

One of the nation’s leading experts on preventing gun violence says Detroit can do more to reduce gun crimes.

Last weekend there were nearly 30 shootings in Detroit.

Three people were shot dead.

Detroit officials say the overall crime rate in the city is dropping but gun violence remains appallingly high.

One of the nations’ foremost experts on preventing gun violence says Detroit is taking some of the steps necessary to reduce shootings.

But the Harvard School of Public Health’s David Hemenway tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter there’s more that can be done.
