NPR’s Michel Martin is traveling the country to take a deeper look at the issues and stories shaping the national dialog. One part of the series brought Michel to Dallas to lead a panel discussion on America’s favorite sport: Football. The panel discusses the dangers of football; the culture of the game; and the intersection of a violent sport and family life.

This panel includes:

  • Nate Jackson – a former Denver Bronco and the author of “Slow Getting Up: A Story of NFL Survival from the Bottom of the Pile”
  • Nashon Ellerbe – a Texes high school scholar and a star running back
  • Melani Ismail – an actress, singer, and was featured on VH1’s Football Wives. She is married to former Dallas Cowboys played Rocket Ismail.

Michel Martin comes to Detroit on Thursday, May 21 at the Carr Center to share the stories of Detroit’s diverse creative community in a live stage show.  You can be part of the experience and live audience, ticket information can be found here.
