Singer Derek Stanton writes songs that bite, as he did with Brooklyn-based psych-rockers Awesome Color. But since moving back to the Motor City, he’s turned his ear towards nostalgia. His current project, Turn to Crime blurs the lines between past and future. Last year’s Can’t Love EP  paired scuzzed-out guitar riffs with drum machines, calling back to the synthpunk sensibilities of Suicide.  He talks with WDET’s Travis Wright about the new direction of his latest release, Actions.
