Urban Partnership Bank Opens In Midtown Detroit

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Urban Partnership Bank opened its first Michigan branch Tuesday in Detroit’s Midtown area. The financial institution says it charges less expensive fees for loans and services than traditional banks do. William Farrow is the President and CEO of the bank. He says the bank is a tool used to revitalize neighborhoods.

“There is an urban banking model that is developing that has never been created before and we want to try to be at the forefront of that. As you find larger banks pulling out of urban areas, there’s a void that can be filled with the right products and the right services.”

Farrow says the financial institution’s literacy, mentoring , and education programs have been instrumental in launching small businesses. The Detroit branch is the 11th Urban Partnership Bank in the nation.
