Troy Transit Center Could Finally Move Forward

Monday, April 7, 2014

Troy City Council Members will vote on a new appraisal for land at the Transit Center tonight. Troy completed the Transit Center last fall, but Amtrak has refused to run service there until the city officially owns the land. Developer Gary Sakwa rejected the city’s half-million dollar offer for the site in November because it was based on property values from 2010. Mayor Pro Tem Dave Henderson says council will have to vote to approve the latest land appraisal of nearly one millions dollars before the transit center can open.

“There are just a lot of things that can stall this. Optimistically… maybe June. Not so optimistically it could be later summer or fall depending on a lot of variables.”

Dave Henderson, Troy City Council

Henderson says the city will continue discussing the potential purchase with developer Gary Sakwa.
