Troy City Council Approves Transit Center Appraisal

"I’m committed to spending the federal funds that were allocated to this project… but not a dime more to get the project open.”

Dave Henderson, Troy Mayor Pro Tem

Troy City Council voted unanimously to approve a one million five thousand dollar appraisal for the site of the city’s transit center. The land is currently owned by developer Gary Sakwa, who refused the city’s 500-thousand dollar offer in November. Mayor Pro Tem Dave Henderson says he wants to see the center open, but adds that Troy needs to work within its budget constraints.

Henderson says the city’s lawyers will take up to two weeks to draft official papers for the new appraisal. He says talks will continue with the developer about the property purchase.
