RTA meeting 1/29/13 Batch
The White House recently committed $25 million toward construction of a light rail line connecting downtown Detroit with Midtown. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood gave state and local officials a pledge this month to help build the M-1 rail line along Woodward Avenue. The money would not be coming if state lawmakers hadn’t created a regional transit authority in December. Transit Riders United, a group representing people who depend on mass transit, held a meeting about the authority Monday night. Megan Owens tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that a few dozen people came out to learn more about the authority. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
