“Summer in the City” is more than just a song, it’s the name of a non-profit group that offers fun projects and flexible schedules to engage volunteers in Detroit. It started 10 years ago, when three college students decided to use their summer break to help make the city a better place. One of those young men, Ben Falik, is in his 11th “season of service”. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that summer is ideal for volunteers who have the time to get involved.
