The state Senate has given final approval to a bill that would allow an unlimited number of university-sponsored K-through-12 charter schools to operate in the state by the year 2015. The measure would require universities to consider county populations and the number of kids on wait lists for charter schools before opening a new charter school in an area. The bill now goes to Governor Rick Snyder for his signature.
