The Saint Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center began its work as an orphanage in Detroit nearly 170 years ago. Funding cuts forced the organization to drastically change its mission in 2006. Its new focus is working to improve literacy among children and adults in Metro Detroit.
WDET’s Jerome Vaughn spoke with the Center’s Executive Director – Diane Renaud and with volunteer Kelley Vivyan. Renaud says kids have always been at the heart of the center’s goals.
