Southwest is "Coldhearted"

The Southwest Detroit community is throwing an event this week to raise funds and increase activity in and around Clark Park. The community groups “Savor Southwest” and the Clark Park Coalition are hosting a fundraiser at the park’s ice rink with a Valentine’s Day theme. The event is called “Coldhearted” and will feature ice skating, music and hot beverages.

Vittoria Katanski is with the Southwest Detroit Business Association – one of the organizers of the event. She says Clark Park’s ice rink is about three times bigger than the ice rink at Campus Martius downtown.

“Over the years, people have gotten a little bit more accustom to coming down ice skating at Clark Park and that’s one of the best parts… they have gotten a lot more people who actually use the facility besides the several hockey teams and local people that they have coming to the park. I think mainly it’s just increased in popularity and it’s just a really good, fun time.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help Clark Park with its operations and programs. “Coldhearted” takes place Friday evening. Tickets are available on-line from the [Savor Southwest website (http://www.savorsouthwestdetroit.org/ "") or at the door.
