Grosse Pointe Shores officials are in no hurry to move the entire village into Macomb County. Residents turned out last night to hear the pros and cons of the idea…which was first raised a few years ago. Right now, the northern tip of the city rests in Macomb County…the rest is in Wayne County. Shores resident Dr. Virginia Rice says officials are wise to proceed with caution. "I’m concerned that no one has suggested that we really look at what other cities have done," the Wayne State nursing professor told WDET's Noah Ovshinsky. "I think we need to do a lot more fact-finding,” Dr. Rice added. Councilman Dan Schulte says moving to Macomb County would save Shores homeowners millions of dollars in taxes. A move would have to be approved by city residents first…then by voters in Wayne and Macomb Counties.
