Parts of the Rouge River are healthier today than they were in the 1970s…when people often used the river as a dumping ground. For 25 years…a group called Friends of the Rouge has been cleaning up trash and pollution along the river banks. Later this month, the group will raise money by sponsoring a five-k run through the Lower Rouge Recreation Trail of Canton. This will be the second Run for the Rouge. Sally Petrella is the group’s volunteer monitoring program manager. She talked with WDET's Pat Batcheller about the race…which was a little soggy last year.
