This American Life
This American Life is best described as a movie for radio. There are people in dramatic situations. Things happen to them. There are funny moments and emotional moments and—hopefully—moments where the people in the story say interesting, surprising things about it all. |

An attorney has served Detroit’s financial review team with a set of subpoenas. The state-appointed team met today to discuss the proposed consent agreement between the city and the state. Attorney Andrew Patterson is asking the team to explain in court why the consent agreement was not drafted in a public meeting. He says if the review team is not following the law … then it is jeopardizing its own work.
“It just seems like a curious way to go about something as serious as the problem is … and something that will be put at risk if they do it wrong."
City and state officials are still reviewing the proposed consent agreement. Detroit’s state-appointed financial review team is scheduled to discuss the proposal further during a Friday afternoon meeting.
