Governor Rick Snyder declared a financial emergency in Detroit today, which could ultimately lead to the appointment of an Emergency Financial Manager. There are currently four cities in Michigan that have Emergency Financial Managers, but Detroit would be the largest city to fall under state oversight. Pontiac’s Emergency Financial Manager Lou Schimmel tells WDET’s Travis Wright that transitioning to the position presents a unique set of challenges.
