Declining population and consolidation within the Pontiac School District has left 14 school buildings and six cleared parcels unoccupied. Bloomfield Hills-based Winsboro Forest Companies has been contracted to market the vacant properties. Company President Rod Blake says the possibilities for development are endless.
"Our vision on the buildings is perhaps converting them to office or medical facilities...nursing homes...apartments...veterans housing... artist studios... a whole variety of opportunities and concepts."
Blake says many of the buildings have been recently updated. He says the goals of the sale is to create business opportunities for investors and developers while generating revenue for the Pontiac School District.
