Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is proposing to freeze wages for county workers until 2014, when they would receive a one-percent pay increase. Patterson delivered his three-year budget proposal to County Commissioners in Pontiac on Wednesday. The plan also calls for elimination of one judgeship, but no layoffs. Patterson told WDET's Pat Batcheller that times are still tough in Oakland County, but are getting better.

Patterson's budget would also generate up to one-million dollars in new revenue by temporarily housing state prison inmates at the Oakland County jail.
