Historic Motown Piano Makes Beautiful Music, Again

A newly-restored grand piano has been returned to Motown’s Hitsville U-S-A in Detroit. The 1877 Steinway was used by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and other Motown artists, but was unplayable for years, until Paul McCartney agreed to restore it. We hear it sounds as good as ever now that it’s back in Motown. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked Motown Museum interim CEO Allen Rawls how the piano fell into disrepair, and how McCartney got involved in restoring it.
