MDOT Receives $9 Million Grant to Up-Grade Rail Lines

The Michigan Department of Transportation has received a federal grant for nine million dollars from the U-S Department of Transportation. The money will be used to upgrade tracks and boost rail speeds up to 110 miles per hour on Amtrak service between Kalamazoo and Dearborn. But how soon can Metro Detroiters actually expect to see high-speed rail in the state? Nick Schirripa is a spokesperson for M-DOT. He spoke to WDET's Martina Guzman about the grant’s impact.
