Michigan Beer & The Summer Beer Festival

While Michigan’s overall economy sagged for several years, the state’s beer industry did relatively well. There are more than a hundred brewpubs and micro-breweries in the state and their products are taking up a growing share of the amount of beer consumed here. Brewers and beer-lovers will toast the growth of the craft-brew industry this weekend in Ypsilanti. It’s the annual Summer Beer Festival at Riverside Park in Depot Town. Rex Halfpenny publishes the Michigan Beer Guide. He says brewers usually make special ales just for the festival.
