Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and contractor Bobby Ferguson are in jail, awaiting sentencing on federal corruption charges. A jury found them both guilty of racketeering, bribery, and extortion on Monday. Jurors also found the ex-mayor guilty of mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax crimes. Kilpatrick’s father Bernard was also convicted of filing a false tax return. While the defendants wait to learn their sentences, their lawyers are expected to appeal the convictions. WDET’s Pat Batcheller spoke with Barbara McQuade, the U-S Attorney for Michigan’s Eastern District about what’s next for her and her staff. Click on the audio link above to hear the conversation.
