The Treatment
Film critic Elvis Mitchell gives the "treatment" to some of the most influential and innovative forces creating movies and popular art and entertainment - discussing everything from their inner conflicts to their interior design. |

Breaking the cycle of poverty in Detroit is hard. But one local non-profit has developed a way to help people out of poverty, and it’s becoming a national model for other groups. Matrix Human Services recently got $572,000 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to expand its Transition to Success program. LaTrice Jordan is vice-president of marketing at Matrix. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked her how it got started.
Later this month, Matrix will hold its latest initiative. “Hike from the Heart” is a 5K walk-a-thon to raise $200,000 to fight poverty. It’ll take place at the Detroit River Walk on October 20th. More details at the Matrix Human Services web site
