Report: More Michigan Children Live In Poverty Since '05

There’s been a sharp increase in the number of children living in poverty in Michigan. Kids Count, a project of the Michigan League for Public Policy, says from 2005 to 2010 the number of kids in families living below the poverty line rose 28 percent. The group also says 55 percent more children qualified for food assistance. WDET’s Pat Batcheller asked Kids Count director Jane Zehnder-Merrell what caused the increases.
