Neighborhoods throughout Detroit have long complained about illegal dumping of tires, abandoned homes, and waist-high weeds – along with the effect those problems have on residents.
WDIV sports reporter Katrina Hancock ran across a neighborhood like that recently. But instead of just filing a story about it, she took some additional action. She’s the force behind an effort called “Cleaning Up the D”. Hancock spoke with WDET’s Jerome Vaughn about the event taking place Saturday.
“Cleaning Up the D” starts Saturday morning at eight at the corner of Tacoma and Joann in northeast Detroit.
