The Detroit Lions have signed star wide receiver Calvin Johnson to a new eight year contract. The deal is reportedly worth $132 million, $60 million of which is guaranteed. The deal would make him the highest paid wide receiver in the National Football League, and keeps him from becoming a free agent after the 2012 season. The Lions drafted Johnson out of Georgia Tech in 2007. He was the team's top draft choice that year, and the number two pick overall. Last season, he caught 16 touchdown passes, and looks forward to build upon the team's 10-and-6 record, which was good enough to get them into the NFL playoffs for the first time since 1999. The new contract could keep Johnson in the Honolulu Blue and Silver for the rest of his career. WDET's Pat Batcheller asked Johnson what it feels like to be a potential "Lion for life".
