It’s often hard for people with criminal records to find jobs. That’s why Governor Snyder is asking for $15M dollars to help train and educate ex-convicts and other groups with the highest jobless rates. It’s part of the governor’s public safety budget to reduce crime and create jobs in Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, and Saginaw. Amy Cell is a senior vice-president of the Michigan Department of Economic Development. She tells WDET's Pat Batcheller that the state is lining up employers who are willing to hire people who might not find a job otherwise. Click the audio link above to hear the conversation.
