A new report says cuts in higher education funding are threatening Michigan’s economic future. The Michigan League for Public Policy says the state has cut funding for public colleges and universities by more than 30 percent in the last five years. Since 2008, Michigan has cut higher ed funding by more than 18-hundred dollars per student. The League’s Public Policy Director, Karen Holcomb-Merrill, says the cuts are alarming, because they undermine efforts to build a well-educated work force.
