The Republican National Convention is underway in Tampa and the party plans to highlight some of its rising minority stars. Political analysts and some GOP leaders such as former Florida Governor Jeb Bush say, to be successful in November, the party needs to attract more minority voters. But, one local expert says that's no easy task.
Doctor Vincent Hutchings is a professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan. He's studied the historical relationship between the GOP and African Americans. Hutchings talked to WDET's Jerome Vaughn.
