General Motors will announce its first quarter financial report on Thursday. The automaker earned a record $7.6B in 2011. Last week, Ford reported a $1.4B profit in the first quarter of 2012, Chrysler posted its best profit in more than a decade, $473M. But the financial crisis in Europe took a big bite out of Ford’s earnings, which were about half as much as the first quarter of 2010.
