Ford is recalling 89,000 vehicles because of a problem that could cause engine fires.
The recall includes Ford Fusion sedans and Escape sport utility vehicles with 1.6 liter engines. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2013 model year.
The automaker says it has received reports from owners that the instrument panels show messages such as “engine over temperature”. In some cases, the high temperatures have led to engine fires. The company says no injuries have been reported because of the problem.
Ford says owners should call their dealers to arrange alternative transportation at no cost. The company says there currently is no repair procedure for the problem, but a remedy is being developed.
