Domestic Violence Rises Steadily In Last Few Years

April 11, 2013

The recent deaths of three women in Metro Detroit have raised new concerns about domestic violence. The deaths were unrelated, except that all of the victims were believed to be involved in abusive relationships. They also died at the hands of their husbands or ex-boyfriends, who all apparently killed themselves. Piper Fakir is the head of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Domestic Violence unit. She could not comment on the specific cases, but WDET's Pat Batcheller asked Fakir whether her department has seen an increase in domestic violence cases?
