Doctor Jack Kevorkian Dies

Doctor Jack Kevorkian died early this morning at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 83.

The assisted suicide advocate had been hospitalized since last month with pneumonia and kidney problems.

Kevorkian brought the issue of doctor assisted suicide to the nation’s attention in the 1990’s. He claims to have assited in at least 130 suicides.

Kevorkian served eight years in prison after he was convicted of second degree murder in connection with the 1998 death of Thomas Youk.
