Detroit Dancer Headed to the Burlesque Hall of Fame

This weekend local burlesque performers are hosting a fundraiser for two retired dancers who are going to be inducted into the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas later this year. WDET’s Rob St. Mary recently spoke with Lottie “The Body” Graves who performed in Detroit and nationally in the 40s and 50s and was called at the time… “the black Gypsy Rose Lee”.

A fundraiser to send Graves and fellow dancer Val Valentine to the induction ceremony at the Burlesque Hall of Fame is taking place Sunday night at the Tangent Gallery on East Milwaukee in Detroit’s New Center area.
