Detroit’s automakers are reporting improved sales figures for June. WDET’s Jerome Vaughn has more. SOQ
Demand for fuel efficient cars managed to keep consumers coming into showrooms last month.
General Motors sales rose just over 10 percent in June. The automaker saw double digit growth in deliveries of its crossover vehicles.
Ford followed suit. It’s sales jumped nearly 14 percent…as consumers showed more interest in the fuel-efficient Focus and Fiesta.
Chrysler sales jumped 30 percent in June. The automaker says demand for its Jeep Compass…grew almost three-fold.
Toyota and Honda continued to feel the after-effects of supply problems. Both reported that sales dropped more than 20 percent for the month.
