NexGen Aviation The Detroit Aircraft Corporation

The Detroit Aircraft Corporation is one of the few signs of hope, let alone life, inside Coleman A. Young International Airport, on Detroit’s embattled eastside.

The company existed once before, in the early 20th century, when Detroit was at the center of aviation innovation. Detroit businessman and aviator Jon Rimanelli re-chartered the corporation last year in an effort to turn a once-abandoned terminal into an international think tank working on the future of flight.

Working out of a hanger and abandoned terminal at Detroit City Airport, Jon Rimanelli says the Obama Administration and NASA are helping to propel his endeavor to make Detroit a major player in engineering Next Generation aviation communication systems and sky travel, utilizing unmanned aircraft for freight, surveillance and personal passenger travel.
