Chrysler says it made $1.7 billion in 2012, about nine times more than it made the year before. Its parent company, Fiat, doubled its earnings in the fourth quarter, but overall profits fell from about $1.8 billion in 2011 to $471 million last year. This comes a day after Ford reported a $5.7 billion profit in 2012. Auto analyst Michelle Krebs of Edmunds.com tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller it’s more proof of the industry’s comeback.
