Child Safety Class for New and Expecting Mothers

The Detroit Police Department is offering a class on child safety for new and expecting mothers this Saturday. The first time initiative will provide a free car seat to every mother who completes the two hour course. Officer Angela Rudolph says there are dangers of using older or second hand car seats.

“Car seats… a lot of parents don’t know they expire between five to seven years…so it’s best after five or six years top get a brand new car seat.”

The class is free but participants must register by calling the Detroit Police Community Services department.
