Detroit’s automakers are reporting solid sales improvements for the month of December. WDET’s Jerome Vaughn has more. SOQ
Auto industry analysts say low interest rates and pent up demand for new cars and trucks…pushed vehicle sales higher in December.
Chrysler showed the most improvement…with sales jumping 37 percent. Demand for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger more than tripled for the month.
Ford sales rose 10 percent…with customers leaning towards sport utility vehicles and light trucks.
General Motors posted a five percent improvement in sales.
Meanwhile, Toyota continues to recover from parts shortages caused by natural disasters last year. Its sales rose less than half a percent in December.
