Salsa Served Hot: Armando Vega & His Orchestra Play Live!

August 15, 2014

"I handpicked each musician, the connection I have with each one, the personality and the friendship, the bond that we form, it helps create the sound that I'm looking for."

Having played with the likes of Tito Puente Jr, Detroit singer and conga player Armando Vega is on a trajectory that could see his own name headlining marquees across the country, and beyond.

He leads a Latin-infused orchestra in a live set that will make your body move, perhaps involuntarily and speaks with host Travis Wright about his influences and approach.

Armando Vega & His Orchestra play Beatrice Buck Park in Detroit on Saturday August 16th from 8 to 11 PM.

WDET's Alex Trajano engineered this session with help from Nate Bender.
