It’s been 20 years since a third-party candidate posed a serious challenge in a U.S. presidential race. Ross Perot tapped into the nation’s frustration with politics-as-usual…and won almost 20 percent of the vote as an independent in 1992. Today…a group called Americans Elect is trying to recruit a viable third-choice…to be nominated directly by the people.
