A recent study by the University of Michigan finds that black and Hispanic infants and toddlers are not properly restrained by car seats or seat belts ten times more often than white children. That’s at a time when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children 12-years-old and younger. WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter talked about the study with its lead researcher – pediatrician Dr. Michelle Macy.
