Romney Wins Narrow Victory In Michigan GOP Primary

February 29, 2012

Mitt Romney earned a narrow victory in Michigan’s Republican presidential primary. The race was in doubt until the closing stages. Romney trailed rival Rick Santorum by a significant margin in his home state of Michigan – until a flood of negative campaign advertising helped him close the gap. Romney praised the crowd at his Michigan headquarters for helping keep his path to the nomination on track. He said, “And in this room are the people who knocked on the doors and made the calls and it made an enormous difference. We didn’t win by a lot but we won by enough and that’s all that counts.” He spent the rest of his speech criticizing what he calls the failed policies of President Obama.
