One-Stop School Web Site Debuts Today

For the first time in Michigan data on every public school in the state is available on a single web site beginning today. The site brings together some information already out on the web. But now it can be accessed through a single portal covering every public school from the elementary to university levels. Project spokesperson Kurt Weiss called it an unprecedented wealth of information for both parents and academic officials. He said there are “high school graduation rates and non-resident enrollment data, ACT results, college readiness indicators.” The site debuts by revealing data from the so-called state report card on individual schools’ performance. The report reveals how well the schools are doing in meeting requirements set under the No Child Left Behind act.
