The permit allowing Occupy Detroit protestors to camp in Grand Circus Park expires tonight. A tent city popped-up in the park for people engaged in the Detroit version of the Occupy Wall Street movement. But city officials say the 30-day permit for allowing camping in the park expires tonight. Last week Detroit police were already removing metal barriers placed around the park to help keep the demonstrators safe. Both city officials and members of the movement say their relations have been cordial to date, and they do not expect any confrontations like those seen in California. Those involved in Occupy Detroit say vacating the park will not end the protest, however, and add that the group had been searching for space inside a building anyway, to deal with the cold winter months.
