President Obama says the economic change he promised in 2008 is taking place – but at a slower pace than he’d hoped for. The President made the remarks at a fund raising event in Dearborn. The President was in full campaign mode during a fundraiser at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Mr. Obama told a crowd of about 600 people Republican’s economic vision would be a step back for the nation – contrasting his Administration’s financial bailout of the U.S. auto industry with Mitt Romney’s often-quoted remark that car companies should have gone through a typical bankruptcy process. He said, “Change is the decision we made to rescue the American auto industry from collapse when some politicians said let Detroit go bankrupt.” The President is slightly trails Romney in fundraising in Michigan – his GOP rivals’ home state.
