Congress’ difficulty in crafting a compromise budget agreement is threatening to trigger across–the-board cuts in government programs – a process known as “sequestration.” The chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee – Michigan Democrat Carl Levin – says that could mean severe cuts in the Pentagon’s budget alone.
