Congressman John Dingell Looks Back At His History In May 2013 Interview by WDET

In May of 2013, WDET's Quinn Klinefelter spoke with Congressman John Dingell. This was just a few weeks out from Dingell officially becoming the longest serving member of Congress... ever. In this interview, he looks back on his time spent there -- nearly six decades -- and the current partisanship in Congress.

I don't think how long a fellow service is what is important," Dingell tells Klinefelter. "I think what it important is how well the member of Congress serves."

On Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, Dingell announced his retirement.

“I don’t have a crystal ball that tells me that I would have two years after that of good service or that the Lord would give me the health to do the job that I need to serve these people well,” Dingell said earlier today.
