The man who tried to destroy an airplane bound for Detroit with an explosive hidden in his underwear says he does not deserve life in prison. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab pleaded guilty to attempted terrorism onboard an airliner – he claimed while acting as an al Qaeda operative. But his court-appointed legal advisor – attorney Anthony Chambers – says the judge in the case should review the statute mandating a life sentence for the crime – because it would be cruel and unconstitutional.
