Biden To Address Teacher Convention In Detroit

July 23, 2012

Vice President Joe Biden is expected in Detroit this week to address a national convention of teachers. Biden will address the American Federation of Teachers convention at Cobo Center – the second largest teacher’s union in the country. The Vice President’s wife – Dr. Jill Biden – is expected to accompany him. She is a community college teacher and the Obama Administration has long pushed the importance of such colleges in the current economic climate. Other speakers at the convention include the head of the Detroit branch of the NAACP, the President of the United Auto Workers and activist Sandra Fluke – a Georgetown student who was harshly criticized by radio host Rush Limbaugh when she spoke in favor of birth control before Congress.
